Donna Sinar works at the intersection of movements, philanthropy and values-driven business, focusing on directing social, human and financial capital toward transformative change. With nearly 20 years of global experience in strategic communications, program design, grantmaking and fund development, she emphasizes inclusive, equity-centered and trust-based practices in her work.
At Social Capital, she serves as a writer and communications strategist for leading organizations, including United Way Worldwide, Feeding America, FoodCorps, Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation – Greater Chicago and The END Fund. Early in her career, she led anti-trafficking efforts at The SAGE Project, a pioneer survivor-led organization, and has since held leadership positions advancing human rights, directing significant resources and building impactful initiatives. Her work includes launching operations and raising multimillion-dollar funds for East African gender-justice organizations, facilitating innovative programs for Silicon Valley tech executives and Ukrainian NGO leaders, and, recently, building out a corporate philanthropic foundation, inclusive of a robust employee engagement program. To date, the foundation has deployed over $3 million to support infant and maternal health in South Asia, Sub Saharan Africa and the United States, using multiyear, trust-based philanthropy practices.
Sinar holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Maryland and an MPA from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, specializing in international development.
